GOLD AND SILVER BULLION- Now how often do you see this? Have a collection of gold or silver coins and bullion collecting dust that you would like to convert into useful hardware? We can help! Coins must be true gold, or .999 silver. We give you the market price for it in trade, priced according to the bullion rate for the day. EXAMPLE: The market value for your silver is $12 per ounce, and you have 10 ounces, you will be able to trade for $120 of merchandise here with us. You are responsible for delivery of the metal, insured postal priorty, daily metal rates govern trade value. GIVE IT A TRY!!!

Violation of Gresham's Law. Why spend good money when they will still take the crappy stuff ?

Yep.

I bet they haven't had anybody actually trade them gold/silver.

Why would you pay anyone with gold/silver when they will happily accept (and generally prefer) paper?

Going by the spot price sure works out for them considering the premium on physical.

Only motive would be if you are cash poor, metal rich and want guns.......this is an easy way to convert.....unless you think you can do better (sell over spot, net of costs) and then use the cash to transact.

I care not about the value or the loss but I tell you what I am glad to see folks accept an alternative.
This is the only way I can see the end ever beginning. To have a competing currency. Even though we all know PM's are real money :)

I want to see stores everywhere doing this & giving change too in PM's Give the people an alternative.

Interesting to see this.... However, I think I'd still rather pay the regular FRN/Cash price and hang onto my PMs....

I was at a gun show once, and there's always a few coin tables spread around the gun shows. I saw a nice looking colt .32, WWI issue at a table where the guy was dealing guns and coins. I didn't have the cash but I wanted the gun. The price was about $300 for the gun, all I had was a pre-33 $10 gold coin. At this time gold was hovering around $650 or so, so I asked if he wanted to trade. He said sure, sold me the gun for $10 and gave me $60 in FRN too. :565:
